Budapest Fintech Week, an upcoming inaugural event, promises to be a cornerstone for innovation in the financial technology sector, gathering thought leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts from around Central Europe. As part of the organizing team, we used this opportunity to take a significant leap forward by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into our core design processes, to see what effects AI will have on our future work.

 

Discover, Define, and Design with AI

 

The incorporation of AI into our processes is not only logical but also transformative. During this project, we embraced this evolution, showcasing how AI can revolutionize research, virtual persona generation, branding, UX/UI design, and copywriting. This move streamlined the processes and ensured higher precision, consistency, and quality.

 

Virtual Persona Generation

One of the key challenges in organizing a successful fintech event is understanding and anticipating the needs and preferences of the attendees. For this inaugural event, we tackled this by employing AI to generate virtual personas. These personas provided quick and accurate insights into the target audience, allowing us to tailor the event content, look, and feel more effectively. Of course, doing user research will always be better if you do it with real flesh and blood humans, but AI can provide a cheap and fast alternative to look around and get a general feel for your target audience.

 

Enhancing Our Internal Research with AI

Combining traditional research methods with AI, particularly ChatGPT, enhanced the overall quality and depth of our research. This integration allowed the team to find connections and insights that might otherwise have been missed. By leveraging AI's ability to provide contextual understanding, the research process became more insightful and comprehensive.

For example, we used ChatGPT 4.0 to gain a deeper understanding of the Central European fintech landscape. This understanding was crucial in tailoring the event to better meet the needs and preferences of the regional audience. Additionally, we used AI to refine the tone of voice, create slogans, and develop a brand description that resonated with the target market.

 

Brand Building and Identity Design

We blended three topics into one image using Midjourney

Creating a solid brand identity is crucial for any event; Budapest Fintech Week was no exception. Integrating AI into the branding process was a game-changer. By applying AI in our identity frameworks, we swiftly generated branding concepts and identity designs that resonated with the fintech theme and our stakeholders' vision.

Tools like Mid-Journey were instrumental in creating imagery and visual elements that encapsulated the essence of the event. AI's ability to mix up the building blocks of any given project is really handy when you want to create unique images. In this case, we mixed

Creating the Vision

These initial mockups provided stakeholders with a visual preview, facilitating early alignment on design direction. Going forward, this capability will inspire more eye-catching designs and facilitate early agreements on visual direction with stakeholders. The rapid visualization ensures that the final product will not only be visually appealing but also user-friendly and effective.

 

Generating Early UI Mockups for Stakeholders

Generative AI allowed the team to quickly transform visuals (aka our previously generated images) into tangible concepts. During the Budapest Fintech Week project, we used this capability to generate early UI mockups, providing stakeholders with a clear visual representation of the proposed designs.

This rapid prototyping facilitates early agreements on design direction and allows for quicker iterations based on stakeholder feedback. The ability to visualize the final UI concepts early in the process ensures that all parties are aligned, reducing the risk of costly revisions later on.

 

Creative Consistency with AI

Consistency and efficiency are key when it comes to new identities. We used prompt templates to maintain design consistency across various applications, from logos to color palettes. This not only saved time but also ensured that all creative outputs adhered to the established brand guidelines.

The great advantage of AI is that once you have a prompt infused with your brand values, you can easily generate other prompts for various purposes, such as logos, UI designs, color palettes, and more.

This approach not only saves time and effort but also ensures that all creative outputs are consistent and aligned with the event's brand guidelines. The versatility of AI in generating diverse yet cohesive design elements is a significant advantage.

 

Enhancing UX Copy and Tone of Voice

Using AI, specifically ChatGPT, we enhanced the UX copy, specified the tone of voice, and even generated slogans for the event. This AI-driven copywriting ensured that all communications were clear, engaging, and consistent, enhancing the overall attendee experience.

The ability of AI to generate and refine copy means that the team can produce high-quality content quickly and efficiently. This not only saves time but also ensures that the messaging remains consistent across all channels.

 

Final Touches by a Human Hand

While AI played a crucial role in many aspects of the design process,the final touches were done by us, human professionals. This included finalizing the logo, visual direction for UI design, print material, color palettes, and creative copy. Human input ensured that any AI-generated mishaps were corrected and that the final product met the highest standards of quality and the expectations of our clients.

This hybrid approach leverages the strengths of both AI and human creativity, ensuring that the event's design and communication are both innovative and effective.
